It’s Alice in Wonderland time in a world of colliding crises.
We anxiously wait for a leader (any leader anywhere) to give what historians will one day call “The Three Things Speech that Saved Humanity.”
“I know three things.
First, we are worried about the virus, our capacity to prevent infection and access to timely medical care. Second, many worry about the future of school and the safety and success of our students. Third, I know that our massive business closures and joblessness mean economic downturns that will destabilize our households and entire communities. I know you want to hear of a plan forward to ensure we all survive and thrive.
And that plan is…”
Wait for it.
While you wait I have some good news. There are two new drinks on the market. Drink Y and Drink X.
Drink Y comes on with quite a rush and soon you feel totally at peace and have incredible clarity. You see all the little details. A blade of grass. A cloud. A warm breeze brings tears of joy to your eyes. Within minutes you are filled with an overwhelming feeling of connection. You have profound love for family, friends and all humanity. You look outside and can sense that across town children are scared and families are hurting. There is much work to be done and your role as a change agent is clear. Social justice is your mission. You relish the opportunity to be part of something bigger and kinder.
Drink X is slower acting but just as powerful. You ease into a feeling of total relaxation without a care in the world. Life is awesome. You wonder, for a fleeting second, why on earth did you ever worry about anything when everything is just as it should be. Perfection arrives.
CHOOSE WISELY AND OFTEN
