This is a true story about our kids and the power of community. It‘s a complicated tale that I have distilled down to six illustrations. I don’t have all the details but the main points about our vulnerabilities during a pandemic (and in post-COVID-19 society) merit sharing widely. The names are changed but the challenges our main character endures are very real.

A Simple Tale

This handful of sketches raises many questions about how we protect our children. Our most vulnerable residents can endure almost any challenge if the services for surviving and thriving exist. And in most counties these vital interconnected services do not serve 100% of residents. Mark, the hero of this tale, is leading a county coalition to ensure ten vital services. It was because of his network with providers in all ten service areas that he was able to help get Mike off the streets in a timely manner. Until each county has a local organization committed to ensuring access to the services we require to survive and thrive, we are all living in a state of vulnerability.

Mobilize! Survive! Thrive!

Please excuse any typos as I construct an article at 3am on only one cup of joe. These stories are mine and mine alone. I do not represent any organization here. Words and images ©Dominic Cappello but share with everyone you know. Questions? Push to front of reading list: 100% Community: Ensuring 10 vital services for surviving and thriving and Attack of the Three-Headed Hydras: Confronting Apathy, Envy and Fear on the road to saving humans and the future. Better yet, let‘s meet at the EYE bookcafe to share a latte and some bold ideas.
